PLAB 2 preparation with a tutor who passed it
PLAB 2 is sixteen eight-minute stations. The medicine is rarely the problem; structure, communication and the clock are. The fastest way to fix those is to run stations with someone who passed and can tell you, station by station, what the examiner was marking.
What a session looks like
- Mock stations: the tutor plays the patient, you take the history or explain the diagnosis, then you get feedback on structure, empathy phrases, red-flag questions and time.
- Debrief: how the tutor prepared, which courses were worth it, what the test centre day in Manchester is like.
- Plan: what to do in the last two weeks and what to stop doing.
What you will not get: recalled station content. Tutors share experience and technique, not confidential material.
Cost
Each tutor sets their own rate; most charge $40 to $90 an hour. Sending a request is free. You pay by card only after the tutor accepts, and you are refunded if the session does not happen.
Choosing a tutor
- Prefer a recent pass; the exam format changes.
- Check the GMC reference number in the public register. It is on every profile.
- Read the reviews; they come only from paid sessions.
- In your request, give your exam date and the station types you fear most.
